JOHN DAPOLITO is best known as a playwright and director. His last play, Baptism by Fire, was directed and produced by Michael Imperioli, of “The Sopranos (Christopher). Chosen as Studio Dante’s inaugural production and starring “Sopranos” co-star VincentCuratola (aka Johnny Sach), Baptism by Fire sold out its original run, was extended, and continued to play to sold out audiences through its final performance. The touted critic, Howard Kissel, of The Daily News called the play, “a surprisingly gripping play about a tough, quirky father…the play is very solid, especiallythe startling speech Curatola gives just before the end.”

Currently, in association with Dominik Tiefenthaler and Young Soul Productions, John is working on a multimedia film adaptation of his first play, Augie’s Ring which blends his original story with extensive documentary coverage of his ailing Father’s death from AIDS . John’s signature play Killer Midgets, an absurdist black comedy which showcased in 2001 under his direction and featured David Steinberg of Willow, (See Reviews) is presently in dialogue’s for a 2010/2011 Off-Broadway Production with Kevin Anderson (Hoffa, Orphans and seen as John the Baptist in Salome with Al Pacino) and Ralph Guzzo (Salome, Augie’s Ring, and Macbeth). John directed his other play, An Act of Kindness, in a production by The New Deal Theatre Company in Los Angeles to rave reviews and critical acclaim (See Reviews).

John is also the founder of the ground breaking career center for artists called: ; he seminars in New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles County, spending much of his time educating actors and artists about this new technology. His ambition is to re-direct the dialogue artists are having between psychology, human-potential, spirit and their craft. John also teaches MASTER CLASS FOR THE WORKING ACTOR, a New York City based acting class for artists who’ve come through the AWG-Program and are interested in becoming virtuosos of their craft. All of John’s work stands on the shoulders of the great Constantine Stanislavski, and is dedicated to empowering the actor. He will direct the plays Tape and Brilliant Traces with The Mission Company, a company he helped found with fellow artists interested in the AWG-Program.
